The 10 Commandments of the Recorder:
The break-in phase
1. Play for a maximum of 15 minutes per day for two weeks, then increase by 5 minutes from week to week.
2. Often play long holding tones, preferably in the middle position
Before the game / hoarseness
3. Warm up the instrument (especially the mouthpiece) to room temperature before playing (this takes a good 5 minutes!). This reduces the formation of condensation and therefore the hoarseness of the recorder. If you have more serious problems with droplet formation, our anti-condensation will help you.
After the game / storage
4. After playing, remove the headpiece, blow it out (do not press into the labium with your finger, but cover it with the flat of your hand!) and set it aside to dry.
5. Only use the cleaning rod to dry it out if the instrument is completely wet or to oil the instrument. Attention: do not poke the labium window with the wiper, this can damage the labium, resulting in an unusable instrument!
6. Do not store wet recorders in a closed case (risk of mold); it is better to let them dry out in the open packaging.
Care
7. Protect the instrument from heat (sun, heating).
8. Put the flute parts together carefully and do not misjudge them (danger of cracking!).
9. After a break from playing for months or years, re-record the instrument.
10. About 3 - 4 times a year, oil the recorder from the inside. You can use recorder oil for this (you will receive detailed instructions with the oil). Do not put oil in the tone holes, painted surfaces or on the block!
