Things to know:
The 10 Commandments of the Recorder:
The warm-up phase
1. Play for a maximum of 15 minutes per day for two weeks, then increase by 5 minutes each week.
2. Play long sustained notes often, preferably in the middle register.
Before playing / Hoarseness
3. Warm the instrument (especially the mouthpiece) to room temperature before playing (this takes a good 5 minutes!). This reduces condensation and thus the hoarseness of the recorder. For more severe problems with condensation, our anti-condensation spray will help.
After Playing / Storage
4. After playing, remove the headjoint, blow out the embouchure (do not press your finger into the labium, but cover it with the flat of your hand!) and set it aside to dry.
5. Use the cleaning rod for drying only if the instrument is completely soaked or for cleaning the instrument. Caution: Do not push the cleaning cloth into the labium window, as this can damage the labium, rendering the instrument unusable!
6. Do not store wet recorders in a closed case (risk of mold); it is better to let them dry in the open packaging.
Care
7. Protect the instrument from heat (sun, radiator).
8. Carefully assemble the recorder parts and do not misalign them (risk of cracking!).
9. After a break of months or years, re-enter the instrument.
10. Clean the inside of the recorder about 3-4 times a year. You can use recorder oil for this (a Detailed instructions are available with the Öl).
Do not put Öl into the clay holes, varnished surfaces, or on the block!
