The YAS-280 saxophones offer a perfect start, as they are specifically designed for young beginners. They are relatively lightweight and have a particularly ergonomic shape, making them easy to hold and play. As is typical of Yamaha, the intonation is perfect and the sound is first-class. Yamaha's design provides optimal support for beginners and promotes both the students' learning process and their creativity.

The YAS-280 saxophones are based on the popular 275 series, but feature several additional innovations:

New reinforced neck joint:

The new neck joint improves the sound, ensures a quick response, and has improved stability.

Improved low B/C# linkage:

The improved low B-C# linkage with a longer lever assists in closing the low C# key and ensures improved Improved response of the low notes and allows for a consistently more precise setting.

Adjustable thumb rest:

All Yamaha saxophones have an adjustable thumb rest to allow for a comfortable hand position.
