Enter the Metal Zone
Right after the DS-1 Distortion, the MT-2 is the most popular drive pedal from BOSS. Particularly contributing to the MT-2's continued success is its ability to produce dense, heavy crunch sounds and singing sustain at any volume, delighting guitarists at different playing levels. In addition, thanks to its smooth character and the active EQ with semi-parametric mids, the MT-2 can be perfectly combined with any type of guitar amplifier - including clean "Pedal Platform" Amps.
Innovative, two-stage gain circuit
Under the hood of the MT-2 there is an innovative analog circuit for powerful heavy sounds. Two gain stages are connected in series: the first provides the necessary clarity in the mids and leads directly to the second, more aggressive stage. The carefully tuned pre- and post-distortion filters (seven levels in total) ensure that the sound remains tight and clearly defined in every setting, without becoming muffled and muddy.
Shapeshifter
The sound shaping capabilities far exceed those of most analog drive pedals, ranging from driving mid scoop rhythms to fat, cutting sounds that cut through even extremely crowded mixes. The post-distortion controls for the low, middle and high areas offer up to 15 dB cut or boost. This allows you to precisely adapt the MT-2 to your type of guitar and amplifier or create completely new sounds. The midrange is the heart of every guitar sound. For this reason, the MT-2 offers a particularly flexible frequency band that allows you to set the operating frequency between 200 Hz and 5 kHz.
