The definition of "overdrive"
In 1977, BOSS created a completely new category of stompboxes with the OD-1. For the first time, guitarists were able to access natural overdrive sounds in a compact pedal form. The unique asymmetrical circuit produced a signal with harmonic distortion, replicating the beloved sound and feel of an overdriven tube amp even at lower volume levels. Four years later, this groundbreaking circuit design found its way into the more versatile SD-1. Thanks to the active tone control, players were now able to shape the response in the highs as well as give the bass range a little more body.
Overdrive in perfection
With the SD-1, beginners and professionals alike benefit from immediately inspiring sounds. This is ensured by the natural response of the pedal and the subtle, characteristic mid-range boost of the clipping circuit. This gives your sound more punch in a crucial frequency range. Thanks to the warmth, clarity and presence of the SD-1, your guitar will always sit perfectly in the mix. While lower drive values ??are particularly suitable for rhythm parts, high settings allow you to play fat, singing leads. In addition, the SD-1 reacts particularly sensitively to the input level, so that you can precisely shape the overdrive character using the volume control on your guitar.
The one pedal everyone needs
With its organic sound character and the very responsive drive and tone controls, the SD-1 delivers the right sound for almost every style of music. Use the pedal to control your favorite clean amp or a slightly overdriven amp to get smooth to moderate overdrive tones perfect for classic rock, grainy blues, pop, country, jazz and much more. At the same time, the SD-1 impresses as a booster for high-gain amplifiers and other drive pedals. In this way, harder sounds and solos in particular benefit from focused mids, a tight bass and smooth highs.
