Will Wilde Rock Harmonica Tuning SEYDEL Endorser Will Wilde is the inventor of this special tuning, which is particularly suitable for the harder style of rock and blues rock music. Read here how Will Wilde came up with this tuning, which he has been using regularly for a few years: ''I designed the ''Wilde tuning'' specifically for playing hard rock and blues rock on the harmonica. Even though I love the standard Richter tuning, I always found it frustrating when I wanted to play "rock guitar"-like licks, especially in the upper octave. The ''Wilde tuning'' fixes all the problems I had on the Richter while still maintaining the bluesy 2nd position feel that all players know and love. While the traditional Richter tuning was primarily designed to play major chords and the corresponding major scale in the first position, the ''Wilde Tuning'' is specifically designed for playing in the minor pentatonic and the blues scales in the 2nd position and across all three octaves equally! I have always found the sound of the pull tones (and pull bends) to be fuller than the sound of the blow tones - the pull tones simply have more expression, a fatter sound and a nicer vibrato. With the ''Wilde tuning'' I can tune ALL draw tones (1-10) without exception and the fundamental tone is a draw note in all three octaves. I think the ''Wilde Tuning'' is the configuration that every ambitious rock harmonica player has been waiting for for a long time!'' The SESSION STEEL. The upgrade of our successful model SESSION impresses with its new fantastic look and outstanding technical reliability, very good playing comfort and a great sound. The special Wilde Rock Tuning allows you to play hard rock and blues rock licks smoothly. In detail: Channels one to five are unchanged from the Richter tuning. Holes six, seven and eight have the same tones as those in chambers two, three and four (one octave higher). Cell 9 has the same structure as hole 2 (two octaves higher) and in cell 10 the blowing and pulling tone have been swapped compared to the Richter tuning, so that the expressive bending in 10 is now a pulling bend! This setup makes playing the minor pentatonic and blues scales much easier: you don't need overblows/overdraws to reach the minor third and diminished fifth in the upper octave. These notes are now easy-to-play pull bends.
