How the MAUI G3 sound is made

Seven reasons why the third generation sounds louder, deeper and more controlled.

System components

2 × 1″ tweeters on a curved waveguide – reaching the front row as well as the back.
Larger midrange drivers: 6 × 3.5″ (MAUI 11) or 12 × 3.5″ (MAUI 28) for a true full-range experience.
Completely new subwoofers: 2 × 8″ (MAUI 11) or 12″ (MAUI 28) for massive bass from a compact cabinet.

MAUI G3 dispersion: 120° horizontal and 30° vertical

120° × 30° dispersion

The line array arrangement and phase plugs on the midrange drivers deliver very wide, even coverage of 120° horizontally.

Vertically, the new waveguide focuses the sound to 30° – so it reaches the audience instead of the ceiling and floor.

Cardioid column

The two-piece passive column has been completely redesigned. Damping acoustic foam behind the drivers and precise cut-outs in the aluminum housing create a true cardioid pattern.

−18 dB to the rear between 100 Hz and 1 kHz
Controlled dispersion in the lower mid and midrange

Cardioid subwoofer

Add a second subwoofer to build a cardioid setup: turn the FOLLOWER sub by 180°, press the cardioid button on the back – done.

−15 dB bass to the rear – less feedback and fewer phase cancellations
Up to +3 dB bass to the front – right where the audience stands

FOLLOWER subwoofer

+6 dB bass: place the FOLLOWER sub next to the MAIN system, facing the audience.
Cardioid at the push of a button: turn the sub by 180° and activate cardioid mode.
Automatic column detection: without a column, the sub switches to FOLLOWER mode and adjusts its DSP automatically.

Stereo

Two systems, two audio cables (XLR or jack), power – and you have a tidy, elegant setup.

Stereo + cardioid

Add a sub, press the cardioid button: −15 dB bass to the rear, up to +3 dB to the front.
